Our Lent Programme of Courses has sadly been suspended due to Corona virus
Take on Chocolate for Lent! ‘Christ and the Chocolaterie’ is the original film-based Lent course, based on the story and characters, of the Oscar nominated film ‘Chocolat’ by the bestselling novelist Joanne Harris. Using the film as our starting point, we will explore questions about God, the world, and what it means to be as truly human as God intends for us. In five sessions, ‘Christ and the Chocolaterie’ opens up the life changing opportunities which Lent presents us with.
Thursday Evenings at 8.00pm from March 5th at 12 Weavers End
Friday Mornings at 10.00am from March 6th at 34, Western Drive
My Sour-Sweet Days: George Herbert is one of the great 17th century poet-priests. His poems embrace every shade of the spiritual life, from love and closeness, anger and despair, reconciliation and hope. He seems to take God on, knowing God will win, as if he’s having an argument with a faithful friend he knows is not going to abandon him. In much of theology and spirituality, God is a critical spectator to human lives, but for Herbert, his sense of relationship with God is one of friendship that can never be broken. These are some of the themes Mark Oakley explores in this fascinating book.
Wednesday Evenings at 8.00pm from March 4th at 40 Shepperton Close
